Championship Route/Race Details

Neutral/escorted roll out from staging area to base of Gibraltar.

Flying Start @ Base of Gibraltar - Look for Start Signage

For safety of riders coming up, small groups at the top, to descend back to the staging area in waves. Ride single file and obey all traffic laws.

Gibraltar Rd. closed to general traffic but remains open to local residents. Ride heads up.

All New Hillcilmb Worlds Fondo

The timed, Championship race category will continue this year for all age groups, but we're also adding a Fondo option for 2019, with a fun, challenging, and fully-supported route that won't be a race in any way, but will share a finish with the World Championships, so you can cheer for your friends and heckle your enemies on course.

Early Athlete Check-In

Arriving in Santa Barbara early to enjoy the trip? You can visit Registration/Athlete Check-In on Friday, September 20th from 2:00PM - 6:00PM. Additional details will be emailed to riders.

World Champion Jerseys

Medals for the top three in each category/age group, and the winner receives a World Champion jersey, made of Castelli's technical fabrics, but dripping with the glory of rainbow stripes.

  • S/B Cabrillo Blvd - Free Street Parking available along Cabrillo Blvd near event site.

  • Host Hotel - Staying in town the night before? Park at your hotel and ride over.

  • City of Santa Barbara Paid Lots - Various City Lots are nearby, see parking map attached below.

Rules

UCI not invited so have fun with your bike! Drop bars optional, brakes and helmets mandatory, costumed encouraged. All bikes subject to inspection. WINNERS WILL BE TESTED FOR PERFORMANCE-ENHANCING DRUGS.

Drug Testing/Bike Inspections?

The UCI will not be invited, so have fun with your bike WITHIN REASON. Drop bars not required. Brakes and helmets mandatory. All equipment subject to judgement/inspection by our officials, and winners will be drug tested.
